“I mean, it’s real hard to be free when you’re bought and sold in the marketplace” This quote from George Hansen (alias Jack Nicholson in his first major film) is the standard of “Easy Rider”. A true monument of cinema, I have chosen to highlight this movie and make it my main source of inspiration for this editorial. The film narrates the odyssey of two hippie bikers, two bikers “Born to be Wild” to use the flagship title of Steppenwolf (masterful soundtrack of the film). Easy Rider is the anguish of emptiness of a rebellious, idle and bored generation. At the time, it was a real manifesto against the consumer society which alienates the individual and ends up eliminating them. This film already took an innovative look at a social problem that is still relevant today : the values ​​of modern man struggling with a system that engulfs him. Styling has been thought around colors of the American flag, a true anti-system standard in this film for the first part of this editorial. Star-spangled helmet and red-blue-white jacket for the first look, in homage to the famous Chopper driven by Peter Fonda. The second look was designed around an orange helmet, a nod to Dennis Hopper's Chopper and to all "riders" since this color refers to the mythical Road 66 and its orange sand, its mountains and its breathtaking sunsets.
